Radioactive Decay
Radioisotope decay can be a hard concept to grasp due to its abstract nature. Therefore I suggest we use analogies to teach these topics turning them into "hands on" activities.

A crystal is a chemical solid with flat faces that meet at precise angles. Each crystal shape represents a unique pattern of the internal arrangements and bonding of atoms.

Air Masses And Fronts
Students will make models of air mass movements using corn syrup and water.

World Time-Day Lab
Create a manipulative to determine the time or date of locations around the world.

Tsunami Labs
In this lab you'll study seismograms from 3 different seismic stations recording the magnitude 9.0 Sumatra earthquake of 12/26/2004. By comparing the arrival times of waves on each seismogram, you'll be able to determine distance to the epicenter.

Analysis Of A NYS Earthquake
Students will analyze a New York State earthquake that happened April 20th, 2002.

Correlation Of Fossils
Correlation of fossils and layers of rock around the outcrops in your classroom.

Earthquake Patterns Lab
Students will investigate worldwide patterns of earthquakes and determine the relationship of these patterns to types of plate boundaries.

The following lab activity requires the use of the Seismic Eruption software.

Finding Epicenters
Using earthquake data, regional maps, and a drawing compass, the student will triangulate the positions of three different earthquakes and then plot their locations on a world map.
