Balancing Bottle Blueprints

Creating your own bottle balancer is easy and cheap!

Materials
10” x 3.5” x 0.75” piece of wood;
Drill with a 1.75” bit;
Miter box capable of making a 45° angle;
2-Liter soda bottle (to test it out);
Copy of plans

Procedure: follow the plans
1) Measure out 10” x 3.5” x 0.75” piece of wood
2) Miter cut one end at a 45° angle
3) Drill a perpendicular 1.75” hole in board using the center lines on the plans
4) Paint, stain or seal (optional)
5) That’s it! Easy!

Explanation
Basically this is a balancing trick. The hole in the board holds the neck of the soda bottle as it “appears to defy gravity”. It all comes down to center of gravity. When you place the bottle in the holder the center of the gravity is directly above the system allowing the bottle and board to balancer perfectly.
